The Crisis Tracker was created as the LRA Crisis Tracker in 2011. Six years passed and features were added willy-nilly. The result was a platform that was complicated and difficult to navigate.
In 2018 I led a team to redesign the platform for an audience of power users. We had a few main objectives: 1) the Crisis Tracker brand needed to be separate from Invisible Children’s; 2) the visual identity needed to be reliable and serious, but still attractive; 3) we needed a sign-in feature so that select NGO partners could access a fuller data set than we wanted to share with the public.
